The client initially wanted to expand their pool deck to accommodate their plans for having more deck space to enjoy for outdoor recreation and entertaining. When exploring the property and the client’s plans further, ZMC Homes envisioned a solution to help the client turn their deck expansion into a backyard renovation.

Going Beyond the Pool Deck Enhancements

The client purchased a vacant lot behind their house and wanted to expand the backyard with several new features. Aside from extending the pool deck, the client also wanted to build a pool house. A new pool house would give them space to relax indoors by the pool, and could also double as a guest house. Once in place, the pool house would be a separate structure from the main house. This created a space between the three elements, the pool, pool house, and main house, that needed to be incorporated into the new design to make the yard feel complete. We suggested building a courtyard to give the house a more complete feel, as well as creating another nice place to spend time outside.

Fixing Problems Along the Way

One of the biggest problems in the project was the elevation of both lots. The house and pool are at a lower elevation than the pool house, making it difficult to balance the two. The process meant going down to the foundation of the house and making changes to make everything work together. We remodeled the back end of the house to give it a new look and to prepare for more construction.

Building A Dream Pool House

Construction on the pool house began and our goal was to make an oasis where the client and their guests could relax. High-quality materials were brought in from multiple countries to create a dream pool house. We installed quartz countertops with gold fixtures, crown molding, clay spouts from Mexico, and 16-foot sliding glass doors, just to name a few features.

A Focus on the Basics As Well As Luxury

While the pool house was designed to be stylish and luxurious, we made sure that all of the basics were covered. Building materials were shipped in from around the world to ensure that the finished work met our high quality and luxury construction standards. The pool house was built with its own electrical and plumbing systems so that it is entirely independent of the house. We also made sure that the security system was connected to the main house, bringing all of the controls to one place. Everything is in place for the client to enjoy the new pool house without any worries. What started as a simple pool deck expansion turned into an opportunity for a family to get the pool house, backyard, and courtyard that they needed.
