Our team is looking for an experienced Construction Manager to assist with the management of our projects. You’ll supervise our staff and vendors and ensure projects are delivered on time. As a Construction Manager, your job duties will also include allocating and monitoring budgets.

This role requires excellent communication skills, as you’ll collaborate with various people, such as subcontractors and other professional service providers. In order to succeed, it’s important to know how to implement quality, health, and safety standards onsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, etc. to determine project needs
  • Set performance goals and deadlines
  • Plan construction processes
  • Estimate costs and ensure the project is on budget
  • Supervise staff and provide constructive feedback
  • Monitor and report on project progress
  • Plan inspections and obtain construction permits from local authorities
  • Implement safety and quality guidelines
  • Order the appropriate equipment and arrange for regular maintenance
  • Keep track of material stock and orders
  • Ensure the job site remains safe, clean, and orderly
  • Resolve on-site issues and emergencies

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Construction Manager or similar role
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire

Reports to:  Construction Manager 

Job Summary: 

A Journeyman Carpenter assists the Lead Carpenter in providing guidance and supervision to the carpenter team on a construction project.  The Journeyman Carpenter may explain and assign tasks to the other carpenters to move a project along the desired timeline.  They will collaborate with the customer, when necessary, in a professional manner and should also be able to help the Construction Manager solve project-related problems.  The Journeyman Carpenter may also fill the role of the Lead Carpenter when they are not on site.

Customer Responsibilities:

  • Serve the customer with excellence at all times
  • Listen with intent to all customer desires
  • Reassure customer questions and concerns with immediate responses to all inquiries, ensuring to utilize the help of the Lead Carpenter when necessary
  • Maintain professionalism at all times
  • Conduct each task with quality

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Serve the Lead Carpenter with excellence at all times
  • Listen with intent to all Lead Carpenter desires
  • Collaborate with all individuals to ensure the project is completed with excellence
  • Assign and explain tasks to other carpenters when necessary
  • Assist lead in supervising the company’s field carpenters, semi-skilled and unskilled workers

Project Responsibilities:

  • Perform all tasks with quality
  • Maintain professionalism at all times
  • Collaborate with all individuals to ensure project is completed with excellence

Required Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Successful completion of a Carpenter Apprenticeship Program or 3 years of carpenter experience
  • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers, etc.)
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings
  • Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Good understanding of basic math
  • Physical stamina and manual dexterity

Required Tools:

  • Necessary hand tools (toolbelt with hammer, utility knife, speed square, chalk line, chisel, tape, pencils)
  • Impact driver and drill set
  • Skill saw

Detailed Job Requirements: 

  • Work with little supervision
  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
  • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
  • Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements
  • Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
  • Inspect jobsite and conduct repairs or maintenance
  • Build scaffolding and other construction structures
  • Set and install windows and doors
  • Assist in ensuring full utilization of all crew members throughout the day
  • Assist in working with vision and forethought to best plan the carpenter team’s next steps

Job Summary:

Detail-oriented with the ability to provide solid estimates on the foreseeable cost of all potential projects. All relevant project specifications and requests will be used to determine the most appropriate and accurate prices for all resources. In order to maintain relevance, reasonable, and competitive costs, trends in construction should consistently be inspected.

Project Responsibilities:

  • Complete other duties as assigned by Zadok Mills, Owner
